Working on Cybersecurity Projects

I was often told by cyber security professionals that you can’t just study materials to become a good ethical hacker or a pen tester. You have to learn by doing it; apply the theories and concepts you’ve learned by typing commands or building scripts, etc.

While I was in a graduate school and even after I graduated, I’ve been working on getting better at python, Linux commands, and even some penetration testing skills. Watching HTB (Hackthebox) walkthrough videos, practicing writing a pen testing report, and attacking machines with crafted python scripts in a virtual environment are some of the best ones yet.

I’ve been enjoying the OSCP learning experience so far even though it’s only my second day. For example, today’s module covered basic Linux commands which I thought I was familiar with; I love that it actually starts off by covering the basics like this since I don’t have the on-the-job experience yet.

As I’m going through the PWK, I’m also leaning about Active Directory attacks though a udemy course and various cyber security techniques by watching YouTube tutorials (recently discovered the hackersploit channel and he is honestly the best).

In the next blog, I will be sharing some of the projects I will be working on in the coming weeks!
